PERSONAL: "First of all, I’m proud to say that I am a 5th generation, native Southern Californian. As a child, I was always hanging around my father’s yacht brokerage and boat business. From cleaning the dark, musty (and scary) bilges, to sanding and varnishing the pretty, teak railings, to swabbing the decks, to attempting to beautify a worn out, run down, used boat in an endeavor to ultimately sell this vessel (in pristine appearance and condition) for a profit, to working in my father's yacht and ship brokerage’s nautical supply store, I’d have to say I learned A LOT from this personal experience at a very young age!!! Later in life, I joined in with my father’s yacht business. Fortunately, he learned a lot as well and progressed on from refurbishing and selling old boats, to designing and selling brand new yachts. I must say that I certainly liked these new, pretty, shinny yachts much better!!! Progressing even further, my father was approached by Hyundai (Hyundai Precision & Ind. Co., LTD.) They came to the United States on a mission to pick ONE successful yacht dealer from both the West and East coasts, and have these two chosen dealers design their own yachts or boats to be built for them by Hyundai. On the West Coast, I’m proud to say they chose my very own dad! (Good job, Dad. Love you!)
He chose to build a high-speed, luxury motoryacht, and I will say that it was truly exquisite! I was immersed in the entire process from initial design to visiting and taking an in depth tour of the Hyundai yacht factory in Seoul, Korea, to the finished product proudly docked in front of our office in sunny, Southern California, to taking prospective buyers out on sea-trials!
After picking up the yachts from the Port of Los Angeles, as they arrived, and piloting them back to our dock and office, to commissioning them and getting them ready for their new owners, I went one step further and provided the interior design as well. This was truly my favorite part and a serious passion of mine. I later became certified in interior design from Interior Designer’s Institute in Newport Beach, CA.
As we all drive in our cars going from A to B, I always found myself driving off course to different neighborhoods, looking for the worst house in the best area. I would park in front of these houses and true excitement would overcome me! I wanted to fix them up and sell them for a profit! Boats were the known factor and real estate was the unknown factor, at that point, but I realized that my dad’s love was for boats and my love was for real estate!
I later got my real estate license so I could start “flipping” homes, a term that was neither popular nor even a known word at that time! I wanted to start from the ground up and learn everything about… not just repairing and upgrading a home… but about title, escrow, lenders, how to put a home up for sale, what documents and contracts are needed?, how does this whole process work?, etc. In the process, I found that being a Realtor quickly became very rewarding to me and I knew I was “home!” I love helping my clients finding the best home for their needs and tend to throw in my two cents of how they can make future improvements, if they so choose, and where they can place their furniture!
I personally have reached my goal of flipping homes and enjoy it very much. Still, my favorite part is the interior design. Not just putting in the furniture and pictures but picking the tile, granite and cabinetry, etc. The workers always seem to favor the tear down. I really don’t know why! It has to be my least favorite thing to do! I have found that I am a Realtor first and a home flipper second. Either way, I hope to meet and exceed all of your real estate needs.”
